Complaint from Payton Anderson

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent experience at Babe’s Chicken Dinner House in Arlington.

My children had just attended their school awards ceremony, and they were extremely excited to celebrate with a special treat afterward. I placed a to-go order for a kids chicken tender dinner and politely asked if one of the corn sides could be substituted with green beans because one of my children has a corn allergy.

I was informed that Babe’s no longer allows substitutions on kids meals under any circumstances. While I understand restaurants have policies in place, it was very disheartening to hear that no accommodation could be made for a food allergy—especially for a child. Because of this, I was unable to order for my child with the allergy and ultimately had to find another restaurant option for the rest of my family as well.

My child was extremely upset and disappointed, especially after looking forward to celebrating such an important achievement with a well-deserved meal. Situations involving allergies are not simply preferences, and I strongly believe this policy should be reconsidered to allow reasonable accommodations for children with dietary restrictions or food allergies.

I have always heard positive things about Babe’s and was hoping for a much better experience. I hope management will take this feedback seriously and review the policy moving forward so other families do not experience the same disappointment.
